- Ghorapak is one of the most feared legend/ghost in Assamese folklore.’Ghora’ means horse. This ghost is part horse and part human. Ghorapak is mostly seen in the river banks, ponds and swampy areas at night.
Generally, people who go fishing at night face this ghost. sometimes it changes to a fully human state and can control humans. It knows everyone's name. It loves to eat fish.
It is a story of Tapan on rage, love, fear and revenge.

This is the first time I've been so captivated by an Assamese short movie. I've watched like thousands of good movies from around the globe, but still finding hard to decipher some of the elements shown in this film. Its like a simple story but carrying such deeper and darker side of my own culture explodes all my childhood emotions and fears we once have experienced and long forgotten...

What I think is, Ghorapak likes Tapan(somehow) and he might had disgrace the fact that Tapan's wife is having an extra marital affair and as that duo overpowered Tapan and killed him Ghorapak came for instant justice, killed them both and acquired his identity(the last scene with a fish between his jaws)

That confused ending left out for the audience is a best way to end the film... ❤
One perspective-
1.The fisherman's wife having post marital affairs might have killed her lover after she witnessed him killing her husband out of fear ... And then might have killed herself to escape from the sins
Another perspective -
2.The entity ghorapak might have existed for real and possessed tapan in order to serve justice by killing malotis lover and the creator wanted to demonstrate the destruction of evil deeds in the village by that light rays in the end
Moreover the use of ojapali musics gave me goosebumps

@@chandana966 The betraying wife and the other guy murdered the old husband.
Later maybe the ghost who was called “Ghorapak” killed the betraying wife along with the other guy as karma, since the ghost knew about the old husband. Later the old husband himself turned into the ghost named as “Ghorapak” on which the script of the short film is based on, and the story of the ghost continues. That was Ghorapak, half horse half human !

@@chandana966 that was not shown exactly, but I guess the bodies of the boyfriend and the lady were socially disposed which was not part of the script, the main focus was on the old husband.
